Got popcorn?
Posted on March 5, 2010 · Leave a CommentTim Burton movies are hit or miss with me. Batman, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd…all great! Planet of the Apes, Edward Scissorhands…ehh, not so much. I can dig the whole dark, bizarre theme that he usually goes with, which is why I’m looking forward to seeing Alice and Wonderland this weekend. I hear that there’s even Lord of the Rings type battle scenes in his version. Check out this trailer and tell me what you think…
This is really a big movie weekend! I’m expecting that Avatar will clean up when the the Oscars are presented. We’ll soon see.
National Grammar Day
Posted on March 4, 2010 · Leave a CommentDid you know that today, March 4, is National Grammar Day? Neither did I until a few minutes ago. Apparently March 4 is the perfect day to do it. It’s not only a date, it’s an imperative:
“March forth on March 4 to speak well, write well, and help others do the same!”
If your as grammatically challenged as I am (can you spot the error in this sentance), check out these grammar tips, courtesy of Grammar Girl. Apparently she even created a song and video to commemorate this momentous event. Enjoy!
More snow may hit Atlanta than first expected
Posted on March 2, 2010 · Leave a CommentIt seems that more snow than expected is headed our way. Early predictions were for a light dusting of snow around 8 a.m. with none of it expected to stick due to a warm ground. Now, WSB-TV Chief Meteorologist Glen Burns is changing his tune.
According to Burns, “new weather models suggest more snow is heading this way — as much as 1 to 3 inches in metro Atlanta and up to 6 inches in far north Georgia — and that it will stick in some places.”
Our advice, stay at home! If you do have to go out, please remember to drive safely. Check out these tips for driving in snow and ice, courtesy of Edmunds.com.

Funny Story…
Posted on February 26, 2010 · Leave a CommentI just came acros this joke on the Internet and thought I’d share it with you. Very funny! Anyone have any good apartment hunting stories to share? I’d love to hear them.
Bill and Sarah were Londoners and were blessed with seven healthy children. After many months of discussion, they finally decided to move to New York. It should have been a simple enough move, but when they arrived, they had great difficulty finding a suitable apartment to live in.
Although many were big enough, the landlords always seemed to object to such a large family living there. If only Bill wasn’t so honest about the size of his family! After several days of unsuccessful searching, Bill had an idea. He told Sarah to take the four younger children to visit the local cemetery while he went with the older three children to find an apartment. After looking for most of the morning, Bill found a place that was ideal. The landlord asked him, “How many children do you have?”Bill answered with a deep sigh, “Seven . . . but four are with their dear mother in the cemetery.”He got the apartment!
More than Peanuts & Cracker Jacks: The Benefits of Playing Little League Baseball
Posted on February 24, 2010 · Leave a CommentSpring is headed our way, and for many families with young kids, that means that its time to pull out the baseball mitts, bats and helmets. Little league baseball is somewhat like a right of passage in Americana culture. I remember playing as a kid and I loved it. I distinctly remember not being able to wait to get to practices and games every week.
As an adult now, I can look back and see some awesome benefits to participating in that type of team activity. Besides the benefit of real exercise, little league sports teach children…
- Teamwork
- Responsibility
- Communication
- Social skills
If you or you’re child are interested, check out these two little leagues in the Roswell area. While teams fill up fast, there may still be spots available to get your child involved for the Spring 2010 season!

Don’t Complain About Traffic
Posted on February 16, 2010 · Leave a CommentTurns out that Atlanta doesn’t have the worst commute. Yay for us! But I wish they would tell me that while I’m stuck behind a row of cars at a red light for what seems to be 30 minutes.
Atlanta ranks as the third worst commute, getting beat out by Detroit and Tampa. Ha ha suckers! I’m just kidding because I think anyone trying to get home from work or school is having a rough commute. Sometimes the thought of coming home is just too much to handle when you are on the road.
What do you think of your commute?
